Coordinates:X: 1279, Y: 228Additional information:Location 1: Balmorran Arms Factory – Power Center, west part. Mutated Colicoids that gives codex upon killing have severe respawn timer.Location 2: Mutated Colicoids can be found inside the Sith Inquisitor phase instance, Northwestern Balmorran Arms Factory – Power Center. You can get there from Balmorran Arms Factory level 2. You can also find Mutated Colicoids in the western Balmorran Arms Factory, but at this moment, there is no road that leads directly to this particular part of the map, but, there is a path through Sith Inquisitor Phase. We would like to say a big thank you to all swtor-spy community members who participated in collecting correct information regarding this codex. Original Game Codex TextThe product of secretive experiments conducted on Balmorra prior to the Imperial invasion, the mutated Colicoids are mindless, bloodthirsty insectoids with many legs and sharp claws. Originally created in the lab facility known colloquially as Bugtown, these monstrosities escaped during the Empire’s conquest and have overrun parts of Balmorra (including the lab facilities where they were created). The creatures seem particularly drawn to Balmorra’s hazard vaults and other zones of heavy pollution. By feeding on the toxic waste, they appear to grow stronger and more vicious. |

Mutated Colicoid |
Mutated colicoid soldier NW of arms factory. 1242, 190. You can thank Bryae of Lord Praven for that.
i killed several mutated colicoid soldier at the location specified here but none gave me the achievement…instead the mutated colicoid drone gives the achievement…at least for me ..so be perseverent
X: 1130, Y: 210
After the Inquisitor class quest bunker.
For non-Inquisitor classes, you will not be able to get this Codex the normal way. But as usual, I found a way around it.
Start at X: 1335; Y: 198, facing southwest, just behind one of the satellite towers. Run up the small path, make a few jumps on the rocks, and you’ll end up on a grassy knoll. Run up to the top and jump into the small wedge. Jump up and you’ll see a drop onto the area where the Inquisitor class phase ends. Coords on this rock are X: 1174; Y: 238.
Jump off the rock and you’ll see the Mutated Colicoids surrounding the phase. Kill one for the Codex entry.
Just a clarification, they are the non strong mobs at the end of the path of green on top.
1136,237
I DID ALL THAT AND THERES NONE THERE AT THE EIT POINT FROM THE INQUISITORS QUEST ZONE WHY??
Josh, wait until they respawn.
As a Bounty hunter I found 2 mutated colicoid drones near the imperial droid vendor at x: 1287, y: 190 right behind the barricades where a republic veteran & BAF-X series invasion droid spawn. Didn’t have to use the long path from the pic.
They weren’t there earlier when I was searching & didn’t spawn back right away when the 2 npcs did, so must be on the same slow respawn timer.
well guess technically they were spawned in front of the barricades facing the 2 other npcs
i was searching for hours for that start point, and i was unable to find it. would you please please tell me where it is. what zone/subzone/area…
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/19/collcoidpath.png/
Here is the path. I got it as a Sith Juggernaut. Start at the med robot and follow the gap in the rocks up off the map into limbo where you might see some graphic glitches (but you won’t fall through the map) then back into a gap to where the inquisitor phase ends. There is another path to follow that wraps around until it overlooks the inquisitor start phase and you will find the mobs there. You have to kill the normal drone types, not the strong soldiers. The respawn is long, more like a phase respawn than a normal zone. So you might have to wait a half hour if you don’t see any.
That “Path” appears to be nothing but sheer rock surfaces. Could you post a video of exactly where and how to get up it?
There is one, but i guess it can be highly frustrated to do it, if you want to try it, here is the link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K_qe7tk4gI .
Thanks Lokesh! I was able to get the Codex using the video you linked 😀
tbh I’m not quite sure how you managed to get up that sheer face of rock… I sure wasn’t tenacious enough. Follow the video link posted below, but use a small speeder to jump onto the rocks. a lot quicker that way.
You are welcome Vashon of The Bastion, i am happy it helped, although it is quite hard to do it like that.
lokesh is the man totally works still
Oddly, I went to the rock in question and tried several times to climb up to where I could get the mutated colocoids. I tried for a couple days. Then I went there to give it one last try, was standing on the rock ready to jump when I noticed a couple of mutated colocoids down behind me in the field with all the circular structures. I jumped down from the rock, walked right up to them, killed them with no problem and got the “mutated colocoid achievement.” I don’t know if they are there all the time but I didn’t have to climb that damn hill from the rock and it could not have been easier. During my previous attempts those colocoids were not there so I don’t know what the deal is with them. Thanks to you for pointing out the jumping rock, if I had not been there I would still be looking.
This is NOT available to the Republic. Wingmaw entry counts for BOTH Balmorra and Tython.
the mob is not actually the one you see on top of the sith inquisitor facility quest. you have to look around where you see a green patch of grass, climb to x 1086 y 231 and follow a little but well visible path around the area, and you’ll find 4 of the mobs you need for the codex
Actually on my BH char it was not the Soldiers that gave to codex entry, but the drones in the same area
I can confirm that getting this entry does not in fact count towards any codex entry total for the IA, and probably not for any class other than the SI.
While you can GET it, it does not actually get counted towards any total for your character.
For Republic, you get a similar Codex – Colicoid, for defeating the Colicoid Queen from the bonus quest in Food Chain. She’s hidden in the basement of a bunker (entrance is -174,-292
I am a level 24 Sith Juggernaught and i can really not find the starting point of this place, i have completed all quests in balmorra! I simply dont understand how to get to the north east map part of balmorra! please help me!
Imperial Agent: Just got this by killing the drones in the area specified. The re-spawn time on them is horrendous, and I had logged out near them just to save time. Checked back every hour all night, and nothing. 12 hours later, there were a nice handful of drones to pop.
Also, this DOES count as your fourth codex entry for “Bestiary”.
i take it you have to go through the group-phase in the Sundari Flatlands to get to this coordinates ?
trying to get this codex entry cant seem to get through the rocks can someone screenshot the exact rocks i need to jump though to start the path?
Ya I have been jumping around the rocks behind the satellite tower and can’t find this path that is shown. I have seen some mutated colicoid soldiers near that medical droid and I have killed them and they seem to respawn pretty slow, but I have not yet gotten the codex entry from them.. Am I missing something or what?
All these solutions to get the codex are way more complicated then is they have to be… I spend… well way too long following these crazy, convoluted instructions… I think I found the easiest way to do for generally everyone of every class. In the open air section of the balmorrean arms factory called “power center”, go to these cords(1198,215) and you should be at a section of cliff wall that has a rounded grassy area toward the top. At the bottom of this wall seems to have a sharp triangle point. just run a long the starting at the right of this sharp edge till you are on it, then run and jump on a higher edge of the wall to the left of that triangle point, just keep running forward adn you will go the higher point, but don’t go too far up or you will fall back off. once your on it, stop. Turn your view around so that can see the arounded gassy top. You should now see a mutated colicoid. You can’t reach it, but ur companion can, target it and order ur companion to attack it. Once it is aggro’d, set ur companion to passive and run away from the wall till the beast come to you. Kill it and get the codex. much… easier… And if one has not spawn there, then maybe you get lucky and have one spawn near the Inqusitor mission exit at (1280, 53)….
This advice worked perfectly. After struggling to wall climb (and seeing those hacks were fixed anyway) I tried this solution and it worked instantly. Thanks
I followed Skkroob’s advice and after much jumping and sliding, got to a point where I was sticking to the side of the hill and could barely see over the crest. If I looked to the right, I could jump and see a mutated collicoid. I dismissed my comp and summoned him and he appeared at the top of the hill. From there I got him to attack the collicoid (~700hp) and got the codex entry. I couldn’t attack it, so my companion had to kill it. Screen cap here:

Also worked for me. Tip : go to preferences -> controls and set your camera distance to max. This will allow you to zoom back your camera to see the top. There were 3 collicoids there at 900HP each. My comp took care of them, got the codex.
First: all the secret paths to the upper area have been blocked off with the graphics error fix, so there’s no way up there now.
Second: As inquistor, completed class quest in vault while partied with warrior. Upon exiting instance, I was transported to entrance while warrior party member was transported to exit area on plateau. Stood on point of small rock at X:1196, Y:216 and looked straight up. Set focus target on warrior, then set target of target on drone. Warrior kited drone just over the edge above (had to keep hitting them or they evaded) and was able to kill it there and get codex entry.
As of January 2013, there is no need to search for a hidden path. There is a Mutated Colicoid standing in the open with a group of republic soldiers. Look for it in the west area of Power Center (Empire).
No codes given for this
Hello, there,
I just spent hours trying to find those pathes around the area to get that codex. Never was able to and I’m seriously wondering, depending on the time you got the information, if some game update didin’t solved those gap issues and killed the path (now, I’m not really gifted with jumps puzzle, so I may be wrong).
But as I was heading to the bunker thinking about joining an Inqui on his mission in the bunker to get access to the codex area, I suddenly saw a spawn occuring in front of me at 1242/98/190, composed of a silver and a normal soldiers. Killing them gave me that codex at last 🙂 I just stayed to see if it was repoping, but seems it’s a slow repop on that one. Let’s just say nothing poped back in twenty minutes, and then I left to continue my codex chase.
as of March 2013 the colicoids were not present at this location, appears can only be obtained by being on the SI mission in the area
Can you please be more specific? After few hours scouting the area, i still did not find it.
I have found that as of 2.0 this beast has been readded to the game and the codex updates properly for the achievement. It can be found in front of the Inquisitor story phase in the upper Balmorran Arms Factory area.

Alternative way of getting mutated colicoid codex entry that is open world rather than instanced. Worked for me today 6/11/13.
so the video at
http://www.youtube.com
/watch?v=6K_qe7tk4gI&feature=youtu.be
is apocryphal? (admittedly it is tricky.) Also not sure how the pictures outside of ‘The Pit’ are of any utility if it is declared that there is no path… was the ‘location 1’ rooftop shot taken during beta testing or before a relevant patch??
Picture was taken two weeks ago, but as it was written at reddit forum, they have huge respawn timer.
For Imp players, no need to go into any phases. There are two Colicoid’s just before the entrance to the sith inquistitor phase mentioned. map point X: 1243, Y: 103, Z: 190 they will give you the codex entry ( They are on a slow re-spawn timer).
The open world Colicoids near the Sith Inquisitor phase are on an insanely long respawn timer. I camped the spot for 2 hours and they did NOT spawn in that time.
If they exist there, you have to wait for a VERY VERY VERY long time.
However, I found that the wall call still be climbed with extreme effort (took me about 30 minutes to get up) where the exit to the SI phase is.
You have to kill a Mutated Colicoid Drone (standard) to get the Codex entry. Killing a Mutated Colicoid Soldier (strong) did NOT give me the entry.
For non sith imperial players – yesterday I got this achievement with my agent by killing 3 mutaded colicoid drones near the sith phase entrance in Balmorran Arms Factory – Power Center, west part near the fuel tank. I couldn’t climb those walls even if I tryed so all I had to do was to wait for respawn.
Now, about the respawn timer… to say this is severe is an understetment, i had to wait almost 8 hours for those colicoids to appear (don’t know how long it was the previous respawn before i arrived there).
During these 8 hours some solitary colicoids popped up around the area but no one gave the achievement.
I’m sorry
But how does it work exactly?:)
Just used a snipers roll to get up to the area all the way to the west thru the arms factory. the spawns are still up there and it gave me the achieve. http://imgur.com/dSySPcR
Just did this after 4.0 as inquisitor. Cleared the mobs inside the inquisitor phased instance as well as outside around the entrance and exit. None gave me the codex.
Definitely seems unobtainable now.
TO CLEAR UP ANY CONFUSION:
-area where mutated collicoids spawn is at exit of inquisitor storyline.(i got mine by killing drones just today)
-imp agents can roll up to the area. (when at entry for the inq storyline phase look to the left and see a path up. there is a small outcropping where u can roll up to. from here roll up and you should encounter some mutated collicoids.
-> THIS ENTRY IS OBTAINABLE(verified just today on my imp operative by rolling up)
THIS IS NO LONGER OBTAINABLE
I played through the SI story, and it drops you through the original entrance, you can NO LONGER get this entry!
I used a guy’s advice from earlier. This worked for me today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K_qe7tk4gI
I had to zoom out to 100% and found a creature lurking in the distance. I sent 2V-R8 off to kill them and my partner and I got the achievement. It was convoluted, but possible.
Nonsense. This codex is very much obtainable.
After logging out/in a couple of times a day for 3 days a Drone suddenly appeared just next to the Rebs. Exactly as said by Jaymon on February 5, 2012.
Just ran the SI bunker and never got the codex.
You have to kill the Mutated Colicoid DRONE that camps near the entrance of the “Into the Pit” quest. It takes FOREVER for it to re-spawn.
A trick I used was to go there, see none had re-spawned and changed my instance to one of the other available instances and it spawned.
Open your map and above your world map change to one of the other instances (1, 2, or 3).
This only gives Beastiary codex, not Species.
They may no longer be available as of Patch 5.9.2a. I saw the Mutated Colicoid Soldiers and killed both, but I didn’t see a single drone.
still available by the power factory on the grassy area. just got it. follow the instructions from lokesh and the youtube vid from 9/2/13.
Works just fine, but requires huge amount of time!
This WILL seem like it’s impossible, but trust me.. it’s not. Do what is in the video lokesh linked and look for a Mutated Colicoid **DRONE**, not Soldier. The respawn time is insane so constantly switch instances.
Good luck all.
I can confirm that as of 21/07/20, Lokesh’s method still works. I eventually managed to jump up there and summoned my companion, who appeared at the top of the slope. There was a solider colicoid right in front of us that I ordered him to take care of, and then way back on the right by the tree I was just able to mouse over a couple near invisible colicoid drones. Again I ordered my companion to attack and the codex entry was ours! Thank you!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6K_qe7tk4gI
look no further this works as of today Oct 8 2021, I used Shae (level 50) and she jumped right onto it and gave us the codex
No need for special tricks anyway, three mutated ones stand by the entrence to the Inq class story (uppermost left of balmorran factory landingpad area, 1232x 47y) Killing them gives the codex
