Swtor Companion Appearance Customization

In this guide, I will try to show you different appearances of your companion. Please note that all the information are form Beta and this is a work in progress, but I noticed a number of people asking about companion customization, so I decided to write up what I have collected so far.

General Information

SWTOR companion is your unique friend that follows you in your adventures. Some of them will make you laugh, some of them will be annoying, but most of the time you will find them useful. Each SWTOR class has five companions. You will gain your first companion on your Origin World and if you want to get your companion as soon as possible, focus on your class quests. No matter what level you are, you will not get your companion until you finish your class quests chain.

At the end of your class quests, on your starting planet, you will receive as a quest reward your first companion customization. If you want to preview companion’s customization just press CTRL + Left Mouse Click. Players can override the starting appearance of the companion by modifying hair, skin tone, eyes and other previously unchangeable physical features. Empire side can get companion customization on Balmorra for 12,500 credits per customization.

Companions’ Customization Vendors Locations

The Republic NPC is named Tatrog, and is in the Cantina on Taris (X: -1900 Y: 366). Tatrog sells the following customizations:



  • 6 x Corso Riggs Customizations
  • 6 x Kira Carsen Customizations
  • 4 x T7 Customizations


The Empire NPC is named Keth, and is also on Taris in the first settlement area as you leave the spaceport (X: 8 Y: 681).


Keth sells the following customizations:

  • Jaesa Willsaam Dark Customizations (2,3,4)

How to apply companion customization kit


On the character pane select companion tab. In your inventory, right click the desired customization to apply it on your companion.
Important Note: You can apply companion’s customization only when companion tab is active (selected)

    I would really like to get the locations marked on all of the customization vendors. I found ONE on Taris which seemed to be only for Jedi Knights and not consulars….

      So far we have information about Vendors Tatrog and Keth section in the quide -Companions’ Customization Vendors Locations. As soon as we found anything new we will update the guide.

    There are three customizations for Ashara Zavros, a Sith Inquisitor companion, which can be purchased from the security key vendor on the Ilum space station (not the planet itself). I can’t recall off the top of my head, but I believe he sells other customizations as well.

    Just FYI, the options listed above for Qyzen Fess are NOT customizations. Those are the different armor kits you receive after you leave the first world (which are quickly replaced). I have read (but not seen) that the security key vendor sells the only customization for him that anyone can find, and it turns his skin yellow – otherwise he does not seem to have any customizations.

      Maybe you haven’t noticed but below every Qyzen Fess screenshot is written outfit not customization.

    There is a companion customization vendor with 1 set for Elara (Trooper) “slave girl” outfit, In Cantina on Nar Shaddaa for social 2

      You need to purchase a security key online. Costs $4 from Bioware. Then you can access the special security key vendor.

    It might be a good idea to list under each companion where to get customizations for her/him/it. More work for you though ^^ .

    Unfortunately the preview windows are to small. Thats something BioWare should fix sometime.

    Here’s Kaliyo’s Collector’s edition customization.

    It’s not the same as the default one, she don’t have ear rings, and the lower part of her face is greyer, but it’s very similar.

    For the Troopers there is also a Yuun and Tanno Customization 1 at the security key vendor on Ilum as well that you do not have listed :)
