As we already know the most expensive way to gain the companions’ affection is by giving them gifts. In our Companion List guide you can find what gifts your companion prefers over others or if he / she is indifferent to some types of gifts. Your companion gift preferences can change from indifferent to like/love if you and your companion are in romance.
The gifts are categorized in several types: Military Gear Gifts, Weapon, Luxury, Imperial Memorabilia, Republic Memorabilia, Cultural Artifact, Trophy, Underworld Good, Technology, Courting and come in five Ranks. Gifts are also classified by quality: green, blue and purple. Green gifts are the most common and can be bought at vendors, while blue and purple ones can be obtained through Mission Skill quests or purchased from the Galactic Trade Network. Affection range is between 0 and 10.000 with new levels at every 2,000 points.
Companion affection can effect game play in several ways:
- you will reduce the time for crafting by increasing affection with your companion
- the success rate on missions is increased with higher affection
In the table below you can find how much affection you will gain for some gifts at certain affection level. So I have noticed you get to talk toyour companion as the affection goes up. It seems to be every 1000 points. I have not focused on this to see if i am accurate, but i was trying to bring my affection up on a few of them, and found i started to need to talk to them as well. Pretty cool, but.. it doesn’t follow the story line well if you are doing this at 50.

I have noticed that the side quests you get from your companions is every 500 not every 1000. I confirmed this on 2 different toons, a si and a bh, by going to the IF station. Buying up as many of the green gifts as I can that they love from the gift vendor. Sitting in the cantina, and clicking away every 25 seconds. I am doing that currently.
I don’t understand this. My Affection rating from Ashara is 1240 currently. She is listed as “likes” on green technology. I gave her a green rank 1 technology gift expecting to receive 24 affection. She didn’t care for it at all.
I think I understand now. In addition to being listed as Likes, she was also listed as indifferent. I think this just means that some of the items in that category she’ll like, and some she wont care about.
If you are a male character than Ashara will ‘like’ technology. If you are a female character than she won’t care about technology. It all depends on whether the character is romanceable or not.
Ashara Technology: indifferent, like. with the possibility for being indifferent about it would mean that there is a chance she won’t like it at all. better to stick with the Republic Memorabilia which she likes/loves.
Great chart….noticed one thing though. FAVOURITE should be high and LOVES is medium
Actually I did find that technology gifts for the droid did some affection gain, although it wasn’t much.
they have made it so that your ship droid will gain affection with you after update1.2
Now ship droids do accept gifts. 2V-R8, the Imperial droid, prefers cultural gifts the most.
this affection guide is wrong. i used rank 5 gifts on ashara and they were gifts that she will accept and grant affection for, as per another thread about companion gifts. and the most affection i got was 60. on all my other class toons i used rank 5 gifts and was getting around 500 affection per gift what gives, is it that Ashara is a Ice queen or just a glitch.
A traveling buddy of mine (Ezekius) a jedi sentinal. I give him my purple and blue, his female comp. gives 66 max. Dont understand. My crew gives the amounts listed above. Very fustrating.
all I want to know is what gifts each companion likes loves, GEEEEEEESH! WHERE IS THE GIFT GUIDE AT! I DONT EVEN GET WHAT THIS EVEN MEANS! or is there NOT LIST OF GIFTS SOMEWHERE THAT EACH COMP.
