In contrast to many Trandoshans, Qyzen Fess rejected the path of a mercenary to become a hunter of the galaxy’s most dangerous beasts. Earning “Jagganath points” with every honorable kill, Qyzen has traveled for years, seeking worthy prey and honoring his goddess, the Scorekeeper. Although his travels have brought him to Tython several times, he is never seen by the Jedi if Yuon Par is not at the temple.

Despite his disdain of fame and fortune, Qyzen has attracted some notoriety. He often slips through apparently watertight Imperial borders to follow his prey, much to the consternation of the Empire’s officials. Qyzen is also the only living hunter to have killed a greater crested gundark, thought extinct for centuries. His simple habits and devotion to the Scorekeeper give him common ground with the Jedi, though many disapprove of the attitudes and instincts that come naturally to a Trandoshan.

Qyzen doesn’t use VIbroswords OR Electrostaffs.

His only weapon proficiency is Techblades. He can also use Shields and Generators.

True. The info sheet above should be corrected as ZeroEdge mentions.

In theory, his primary is Aim, but in practice he is a melee character, so I boost his Strength instead. Is there something I did not understand?

( btw: incredible web site, and I’m a webmaster myself.)

Response to my own comment :

Actually, because Qyzen Fess uses Aim for various things, including melee damage, one should focus on that. His Str has less impact.

Qyzen uses special skills that are different than those of players. His Aim is used for his Techblades.

You have Qyzen listed as using Vibrosword and Electrostaf and as far as I can tell he only uses Techblade.

Please check the primary weapon for companion Qyzen-Fess. A “orange” grade vibrosword does not equip on him.

Please be aware that Qyzen cannot use a vibrosword and only has proficiency in techblades. I found this out after I mistakenly spent my commendations upon reading this guide, only to find that he cannot use the vibrosword.

You can always check your companion’s weapon if you hit L on the keyboard then choose tab Codex – Persons of Note. The text that we present here is taken from codex Persons of note Qyzen-Fess (Consular) that Bioware wrote for Qyzen Fess.

At this moment we don’t have consular character, but If you send me an in-game screenshot of the latest codex – Persons of Note Qyzen-Fess (Consular) I can change description. Thank you.

Unfortunately the codex entry also states that he uses vibrosword even tho he can not equip it. Hope bio fixes this at some point.

Interesting post and topic of conversation. Many people repeated what the first person said, yet, you post on here telling people you copy directly from SWTOR codex, in fact, calling it truth because it says so. You also want someone to send you a screen of an updated codex. You would be better off just telling people you never played the game and don’t even know what you’re talking about in the first place. You lost any credibility you had with me. I won’t trust you again after that post. Hey people, just find a level 3 weapon and see if your companion can use it before spending money on one. These idiots here don’t even play the game.

Does Qyzen really not Love anything? That sucks. 🙁

His primary stat is indeed Aim, but I have found that equipment with a similar Strength stat works almost as well for him, so if it’s better in some other area, go for it.

Just ran a battery of tests on Qyzen with my male consular, got the results as indicated above (Weapon is best). Sigh.

    Qyzen-Fess is not
    Primary Weapon: Vibrosword
    but
    Primary Weapon: Techblade

There is a slight error in your overview of this companion. You state that he is a melee tank…seeing that his main stats are Aim and Endurance, not Strength/Endurance, he is more a ranged tank if anything.

Hmmm…I kinda jumped the gun there…sorry about that. I just looked closer into him and saw that I was wrong and that you were right…my apologies.

Hi i just gave qyzen a military gear companion gift purple grade 5 and it gives 0 affection this posting is slightly wrong

    • Comment by TBD made on September 23, 2012 at 12:39 am

Actually if you give your companion enough gifts then they won’t gain affection from them anymore. I have tried it with Nadia Grell. Until about 600 affection they don’t gain anymore with gifts.

I think the gift of Trophy type gifts is what he likes greatly, at least favored, might be loved, worth a try once at least.
