You obtain this special companion through a quest chain that starts in Belsavis’ Section X. The quest chain consists of collecting HK-51 parts and will require you to be level 50 and have at least a level 15 alt of opposing faction. You will also need to run two flashpoints as part of the quest chain.Guide to obtaining HK-51There are four parts to the quest chain of obtaining your very own Hunter-Killer droid. 1. Belsavis – Section X – Frozen Lake -FatalityThe chain starts in Section X on Belsavis, which you can reach by shuttle once you reach the planet. The quest (Fatal Errors for Empire and The Fatality for Republic) is started by a droid (G0-A1 for Empire and B6-31 for Republic) and it happens inside the ship Fatality. You go to the Frozen Lake part of Section X and talk to NPC there (general Avrun for Empire and general Bren for Republic) who will tell you to enter a wreck of the ship Fatality.  Frozen Lake is in the NW part of Section X Although the quest is Heroic 2+ with good gear and a healing companion you can probably solo it and the only real problem could be the last boss with two strong mobs.  Dread Legion Leader 2. TheoretikaNext, you will have to travel to the Uncharted space and visit the ghost space ship Theoretika.
3. HK parts huntingNext you will go on a scavange hunt to pick up 7. HK droid parts scattered around the universe. 1. HK primary transistor – Tatooine – Outlaw’s DenThe first part can be bought at a jawa vendor Collector Kezzit in Outlaw’s Den on Tatooine. If you have the legacy perk you can teleport there instantaneously. Wrapped HK transistor you need can be bought for 125k. Also, if you do not have the Burba Seismic Excavator / Scanner in your inventory already you can buy one here as well. This is used to find two other parts later on so it is pretty important.
2. HK chassis – Taris – Endar Spire crash siteThis is probably the most tedious part of this whole quest chain. You need to use the Burba Seismic Excavator / Scanner around the Endar Spire crash site until you find the HK part. You basically activate the scanner and it scans 25m around you fore the part for 16 seconds. It can take a lot of time to cover all that ground with the scanner. Luckily, if other peoople are searching the area as well you will be able to find it much quicker because once one of you finds it everyone in the area can loot it (it stays spawned for a minute or so after being excavated). I found my HK chassis at -92,-207 and the other reported coordinates are {90, -100}, {-51, -142} and {-120, -157}.
3. HK AI regulator – Coruscant – Jedi Temple ruinsIf you are Empire you will have to have a Republic alt of around lvl 15 to get to Jedi Temple ruins in Coruscant and scan the area for the next HK part. Once found the item is in a Bind on Legacy container so you can send it to your main. The entire lower part of the Jedi Temple ruins is a possible place to find the component so you need to be very patient and very thorough. Worst … game … design …ever… 4. HK motivator – Dromund Kaas- Dark Temple GroundsSame as with the Jedi temple Ruins you need to have at least a level 15 Empire character (or a high level babysitter) and scan a large area of Dark Temple grounds to find the next component. Item is also legacy bound so you can mail it to your alt. 5. HK Power Core – Hoth – Glacial Fissure – Ambria’s FuryThis is found in the NE part of Glacial Fissure area on Hoth near the Ambria’s Fury wreckage and it is a lot of ground to cover. People say that the components are usually found closer to the ship so you do not have to wander off too much. 6. HK Weapons Protocol – The False Emperor flashpoint (normal mode)Kill HK-47 boss in The False Emperor flashpoint to gain this component. 7. HK Loyalty Chip – (The Foundry/Maelstrom Prison Flashpoint Hard Mode)The last part is appropriately held by Revann himself in the Foundry/Maelstrom prison flashpoint, which you will need to complete on hard mode. 4. Back to FatalityAll you need to do now is go back to Section X on Belsavis and make your way through the ship and some enemies to get HK-51. Congratulations! | advertisement key facts

great guide! thx a lot. But just to clarify: you say you need a lvl 15+ alt to scan the opposite faction area (temple areas) but how does the alt get the scanner? Is it also bound to legacy? Or do they need to buy one in Outlaws den?
You just send it to your alt by in-game mail. It is legacy bound I think.
The excavator found the hk part on Taris, but when I tried to loot it, it told me I don’t need it right now. What gives?
You must have acquired the schematic from the Theoretika first; you can get the PvP and cross-faction pieces at any time, but the single character who does the whole quest line must get the schematic before they can ‘loot’ any of the remaining parts.
Currently, Jedi Knight and Sith Warrior (both Advanced Classes of each) are ‘bugged’ with getting HK-51, and they will get him without any gear at all. To my knowledge, there is no ETA on when this can be fixed. With all the people that try and sell his gear, you could just farm up the 1 million to ‘buy’ him early with an alt, and just make one specifically for stripping down HK, then mail the gear to the Knight/Warrior.
Uhh, I have a Sith Warrior and Knight, I got Gear with my HK-51.
It is a known bug, not everyone is getting what you discrbed.

theres a bug. I was at the final part of the chain and grouped with a friend who wanted to start the chain. We entered the ship on his quest and found that my mobs had joined them. This becaome apparent at the end when we confronted not only the dread master leadr and two DM gunners but Lord of Agony was in front of them.
We resolved it by him abandoning his quest and we finished mine, then he started his again and everytihing from that point was as it should be.

Also if you use a higher rank while rank 1 is at above rewards, then the rank 2 will be 1/2. But when for instance rank 1 drops to 35 then rank 2 will become 70 (for weapons).
Economically, rank 1 is 200 credits and rank 2 is 600 credits. So it’s cheaper to continue buying 2x rank 1 and feeding you companion (for a cost of 400 credits and 70 affection) as opposed to forking out 600 credits for 70 affection (weapons)

Hi everybody.
Once u got the droid, ure given a pack with parts to equip the droid with, but the droid is alredy equipped with the same stuff (blaster, cores and all that stuff).
My question is, if i unlock the droid for the rest of the characters qith the legacy perk, will it be equipped as well, or i should have saved that box to equip the droid?

i recently got him and i found that the extra pack is completely useless i bought hk for my lvl 10 alt and he had all lvl 50 gear the pack you can just sell to a vender and make about 40k
The two sets of HK gear are different; pick and choose among the pieces to get the best mix.
i have a glitch that, when i turn the power on and go kill specimen gamma 19, the subject doesn’t leave its chamber after going through the same conversations seen in guides on videos, any suggestions.

I am a sith marauder and when i got hk-51 i got his gear in a box, AND when i got him he was wearing his gear so i got it twice…And it is bound.
Apparently no one part after the Jawa is guaranteed to be a the location when you use the scanner/excavator… You can find a part you already have. (Searched on Coruscant, found the part… and I was told I already had it.) I have to agree that is poor game design.

Guide needs level range for planet to get the quest starting things done. Cause I am new and is it like I haver my starship and I can got and get it started then just progress through storyline to get to the other planets to the parts to make the HK droid?
No, you have to get the schematic from the Theoretika before you can get the Taris/Hoth parts for sure.

No, once you get the main HK-51 legacy unlock, each character in the legacy can buy the unlock for their character after level 10; I paid 340 CC for it every time I picked it up.

still ran around for 2 hours looking for it though. People coming onto forum now to look for it, I advise the following.
1. write down all the locations that people have posted.
2.You will see that the coordinates encompasses the area directly to the left Foward Outpost Alpha, where the 3 ponds are.
3. start in one corner, and sweep from one side to the other. Then move to the next line and do it again and again until it shows up.
4. Having a group really is wise because you can cover more ground quicker.

I have found that the hk parts move a maximum distance of 50 meters from where it was last found. For example, I found the taris one 5 m away from where it was last found. So if reported coordinates aren’t working try this, I found all the parts in two – three days using this system.

Is the Taris part legacy bound? Because I tried to get it on an alt who was already on that planet and instead couldn’t even pick it up despite having a quest on one toon
I bit late to be of use to you, but it may perhaps help someone else: All the HK components are character bound, the exception being that the one’s from Tatooine, Coruscant and Dromund Kass are packaged up when first received, and its the packages that are bound to legacy.

Illumination Probe doesn’t work and I can’t seem to find the fuse
So, there is actually a total of 7 datalogs for the bonus mission on the abandoned ship. I was pretty lost when following this guide because it only has a datalog count of 6. There’s actually 4 datalogs on deck 4, not 3.
